Baby Dragon

I showed this to my stepdaughter and she said I can make the face on the right be that of a little girl's looking at the little fairy with a little pet dragon.

Come to think of it, that makes a good idea for the headboard poster I am currently conceptualizing for a little girl's room. I can make the the little fairy sit on a young child's chubby hands too while the child looks close just like the fairy looking at the tiny dragon. It will be a pet dragon on a little fairy on a little girl. Something like that.

Finished product will be colored and rendered on canvas. I'll let you know.

HANGMAN

Was playing around with different Hangman images in my mind. No, I don't have violent nor suicidal tendencies, I had to make these for a friend who is designing a new Hangman app (for Facebook). He wanted scary and funny. How can something be both scary and funny? These are just drafts. I have yet to make the entire execution landscape and the frame after he picks which man he likes. And then convert them to ink and color, plus a few rotated duplicates. I'm still working on more options. I'm just having fun. I wish I can make images using vector graphics and isometric/non-isometric pixel art. Because I believe that this is just the beginning of a really dynamic and pretty tall (read: ambitious) project for us. More to come...

Someone told me I should make a sketch of my husband...so one boring Friday, I came up with this. My co-worker said I should work in crime investigation to help witnesses sketch suspects har har har. Very funny, but definitely a back-up plan!

I was blessed to have a good amount of cave time today because hubby was working late. There's so much more I yearn to do and I figured I can accomplish that if I don't make dinner (ack!) I made this with acrylic on canvas, I'm not even done yet...so, til next cave time for me!

Your Artist In The Raw

I started drawing with my father as soon as I was old enough to hold a pencil (what is old enough for me? 12 months? *teehee*). In preschool, I felt a little awkward and embarassed because I was already sketching things in 3D, while my classmates were struggling to draw stick people. I can still vividly remember my rendition of the flame and the partially melted ice cube with a wet pool around it (thanks to Daddy -- whose idea of playtime and bonding time was the Drawing Guessing Game, way before Pictionary came out). I still do the drawing guessing game with little kids. I think we need to tap into their creative, inferential and expressive skills early on. It matters a lot to shaping one's character for later in life.

Sadly, all my sketchbooks and sketchpads of two decades (including those that were on exhibit for a time when I was in the university) were never returned to me -- even threatened to be burnt and are perhaps really ashes by now -- after a previous relationship has gone awry. I still don't know what came of them.

So I have nothing much to show now, only lessons learned. And a testimony of the truth that...LIFE GOES ON. Art prevails! And this site is a form of my commitment to find time to create works of art again inspite of my busy schedule.

Though I'm not the best in the world, I'm proud of my works because this hobby (and skill) is one of the most special things that connect me to my DADDY who still sketches wonderful drawings up to this day. Though he and I are geographically apart now, like a secret magic thread, this language ties our hearts together. Tightly.
